Free coaching for NTSE, Olympiads for school students of Jharkhand at JCERT.

Government school students in Jharkhand are being provided with special residential coaching for National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), Olympiads at Jharkhand Council of Research & Training. “Chief Minister Hemant Soren had approved this proposal of the school education and literacy department. Now, it will be placed for approval from the state cabinet,” it said. A total of 60 students were selected for the special residential coaching of NTSE and Olympiads. Twenty-five students each from class-7, 8, 9 and 10 will be picked for the two tests. NTSE is a national-level scholarship examination while Olympiads will be held by the state to test & encourage students to volunteer themselves for these types of events wherein all subjects are included like mathematics, science, English and computer. The education department had initiated the Akanksha programme in 2016-17 to provide free coaching for medical and engineering entrance examinations to those government school students who do not get proper guidance for the tests due to financial constraints and unavailability of appropriate learning materials. The ministry of School education shall be acting as a catalyst in initiating such endeavor’s by ensuring that all necessary supports are rendered to the aspirants at JCERT.

Faculties

The faculty is the coach and mentor, and half of the achievement relies upon the quality lessons that one will get from the educators along with the methodologies used by them to teach the topics. For the exams like NTSE, there are experienced and prepared faculties who are an expert have the option to share their encounters, and share their knowledge & expertise.

Good Environment

For the preparation of the NTSE exam, it is essential to remain focus with utmost dedication and concentration throughout the examinations and for the equivalent, keeping these factors in mind JCERT provides a peaceful environment for study.

Class Strength

Class quality matters a lot, therefore focus on having ideal class strength is emphasized, so that focus is given on each student. The ideal number of students in a class is 40 to 50.

Assistance/Guidance

After class when one is doing questions or doing self-study at home, they get total guidance and support from the educators in case of any doubts. In case if a student misses any class session then they can avail the assistance of the educators in order to cover up the missed syllabus.

Demo Class:

Before concluding, the NTSE aspirants were encouraged to take the demo class with the goal of getting a basic understanding of their style and methodologies of teaching.

Books and Learning Materials development for Mother Tongue Based Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE

A training on MTB-MLE (Mother Tongue Based- Multi Lingual Education) approach was organised at JCERT campus Ranchi. This approach keeps mother tongue at the center of all academic transactions, while creating space for picking up other languages in a phased manner; it is especially beneficial during first 6-7 years of schooling. NEP 2020 recommends use of children home language as medium of instruction until grade 5. NIPUN Bharat mission also informs us that the pre-existing knowledge of language helps in building literacy skills in languages.

Context of Jharkhand:

There are32 different tribal groups in Jharkhand, each with its distinct culture and ethnic identity. (Asur, Baiga, Banjara, Bathuri, Bediya, Binjhiya, Birhor, Birjhiya, Chero, Chikabraik, Gond, Godait, Ho, Karmali, Khariya, Kharvar, Kisan, Khond, Kora, Korwa, Lohara, Mahali, Malpahariya, Munda, Oraon, Parhiya, Santhal, Saur Pahariya, Sabar, Bhumij, Kavar, Kol etc). 96% of the populations of Jharkhand speak a language other than Hindi, which represents language diversity in Jharkhand. Students find a gap between the school environment and their own lived experience; cultural context is completely absent in the classroom. Article 350 A of the Indian constitution ensures that linguistic minorities should have the choice of getting education in their mother tongue. Language not just medium of communication is also a reservoir of wisdom of previous generations; it is a link with the past and a road to the future. It is a way of adapting lessons from past into current socio-cultural context. Multilingual education fosters the creativity and cognitive flexibility of the students. It supports student’s ability to transfer the literacy skills acquired in one language to subsequent languages.

Objectives of The Training: :
